Alright Gandhi has chosen some things that are unconventional in pop music: complexity, silence inside the pulse, improvisation and choruses that mutate into sound-scapes and new songs. You are urged to change, move, reflect, relate.
It's hard to pin Alright Gandhi to a genre. The group play their instruments as three distinctive and emotionally charged characters. Rosa writes the skeletons of songs on bass guitar and performs the lead vocals with freedom frequently compared toJoni Mitchell (on acid). The songs are brightened and derailed by Pietro's guitar painting, with influences ranging from Senegalese Music and Led Zeppelin to outer space. Dominick's drumming and presence are one and the same: full of pep, drive and agility. There is no excess to the music, all three members of the band are playing finely balanced solos that interweave and accentuate the other.
Alright Gandhi formed in Berlin 2014. Rosa Mercedes (UK), Pietro Fornara (IT) and later Dominick Gray (US) met in the city characterised by its love of experimentation and recklessness. Kalle Enkelmann (DE) recorded their first EP Widening Circles (2015), and a year later the full-length album Little Traveller (2016) infused with pop, polyrhythm and storytelling. Since then they have toured 3 continents and 11 countries, in venues ranging from Baltic train station platforms to Chapels on cliff edges to Manhattan clubs. They are currently finishing the second album, which captures raw live performance in a stone house in the mountains of Liguria. The release is planned for later this year; expect warmth and outlandish imagery, like an analogue photograph of your great-aunt's runaway trip to the South.

"[Alright Gandhi] managed to make dance even the most stubborn wall supporters, not for a moment brushing against banality and presenting an ambitious repertoire. Clearly, the musicians like to experiment, and their songs are firmly surprising. Their work brings up strong associations with freedom, lightness and being carefree," - Monika Słupek for Muzyczny Krakow
