Dame of the Hour Exhibition at St James Wine v St James Wine Vaults
Since 1909, we have been commemorating the movement for women’s rights, on International Women’s Day (8th March).
The DAME OF THE HOUR exhibition is an opportunity to celebrate IWD while showcasing work from TWENTY TWO different artists each with their own take on the exhibition’s theme.
The exhibition takes inspiration from Dame Nellie Melba (1861-1931), a world renowned operatic soprano and the first Australian to be internationally recognised as a classical musician. It is perhaps also fitting that it was in the year 1909 that Dame Nellie Melba returned to to Australia —in the glory of her fame — for a ‘sentimental tour’ and was celebrated and lauded by fellow Australians for her success.
We’ll be open every night from 5th March until 22nd March from 5pm to 10pm.. come and say hello and support IWD!
