Year after year we are proud to bring one of the most beautiful and soulful traditions of Mexico to Ghent, and this fourth edition is not an exception. We are going all out with all the twists and turns that make this event unique. The date this year is October 31st, same place, same hour. Come and be part of this celebration and have a taste of this very special night where we celebrate our departed with some good music, best costume contest, “dead” make-up stand food and more…
- The day of the dead is truly a celebration of life in Mexico. Where people celebrate the circle of life and teach others not to fear death. A celebration where people feel free to enjoy and appreciate every moment. The dead are not remembered or commemorated. Instead they are considered present. This is a celebration with the dead, not of the dead.
LINE UP
21:00 – MARIACHI LOS GUAPOS (MEX)
These three amigos come to open the stage with some of the traditional mariachi songs. They love to be on stage so don’t expect them to give it up easily, it seems that Thee Andrews surfers will have to battle them off stage.
21:30 – THEE ANDREWS SURFERS - (BE)
A spin-off of the well-established surf band FIFTY FOOT COMBO appear on stage whenever they feel like under the name thee Andrews surfers. The three 3 “temerario” members bring straight-up oldskool roughness and a MONSTROPHONIC brand of garage and surf. An unexpected yet so crowning twist on this Dia de los muertos edition that will keep you on your toes.. literally!

22:30 – LA BANDA FANTASTICA (MEX) (AR) (CHI)
For the first time in Belgium (but surely not the last), This explosive Latin-American combo migrates through all the cumbia’s sub-genres in a journey that creates their own truly unique sound. From Chicha (psychedelic Peruvian cumbia) to Cumbia Villera (Argentina) and traditional cumbia from Colombia and Mexico, these daredevils are not afraid to inject some Black Sabbat and The Beatles in the mix.
