Hjalte Ross release v Studenterhuset
15/11/18
Free entry
On November 15th Hjalte Ross releases his debut album ‘Embody’ through Wouldn’t Waste Records. To celebrate, Hjalte and his band of friends Astrid Matthesen, Andreas Westmark, Mads Lang, Oskar Krusell and Simon Mariegaard will perform a unique concert.
A lot of current musicians focus on creating music by making unique sounds with effects or by cool gimmicks. Young Dane Hjalte Ross focuses only on the songwriting, and on making the songs unique in themselves.
The songs of Hjalte Ross are composed on acoustic guitar and tape recorders, but accompanied by great arrangements. Hjalte has been working on his debut album for nearly two years now and the process has found him working in London, writing string arrangements with composer Steve Turner (Michael Jackson, Kylie Minogue, Beyonce, Jeff Lynne, etc.), later recorded by the incredible string quartet Who Killed Bambi (Father John Misty, Mick Harvey, TV2, etc) – and later in North Denmark, recording the album with his band and producer legend John Wood (Pink Floyd, Nico, John Cale, Cat Stevens, Nick Drake, John Martyn, Bert Jansch, etc.). The album was then mixed in Aberdeen by John Wood.
Vinyls will be sold cheap and there will be DJ’ing after the concert.
Support: ASTMA
Astma is the project of young pianist and vocalist Astrid Matthesen. Her music is abstract tales about youth occupations folded out through rigorous piano and alternative pop vocals.
