Mushroomhead - are one of the most unique and adventurous alternative metal bands working today. Known for their stunningly theatrical live show and artsy masks, this innovative band has forged new ground in the rock world and influenced many other bands to push the envelope and bring art into rock. Formed in the early-1990s in Cleveland Ohio, the band’s combination of metal, rock and atmospheric elements has struck a chord with thousands of fans worldwide.
Mushroomhead have been performing incognito since 1993, when drummer Skinny founded the band. The band was meant to be a side-project so they wore masks to go unrecognized, but after only a few shows they developed a rabid and loyal fan base in Cleveland. Mushroomhead released their 1995 self-titled debut album independently and it went on to became an underground hit. This was history in the making because the band really had no proper distribution. Superbuick followed in 1996 and M3 in 1999, all released via an underground street effort. After the band felt its image and hyper-melodic, heavy style of music was being diluted by other bands jumping into this space, the band started to change their look to reflect nothing out there. After a brief stint on Eclipse Records, a move to Universal Records saw the release of XX (a combination of the past independent releases) in 2001 and XIII in 2003. The band’s last album sold over 200,000 units in the USA alone. Mushroomhead released Savior Sorrow for the pioneering rock label, Megaforce Records (Metallica, Anthrax, Ministry, Warren Haynes, Bad Brains) in 2006. Mushroomhead released “Beautiful Stories for Ugly Children” in the Fall of 2010 and it debuted at #44 on Billboard charts.
It can be said that Mushroomhead’s musical ascendance was a singular, original, aesthetic of eight guys decked out in matching jumpsuits and artsy masks, playing unbelievable, unsettling music. No other band was wearing masks and jumpsuits and purveying this type of ultra-melodic, ultra-dynamic music at the time – Mushroomhead sounded like nothing else. The band’s merging of metal, atmospheric elements, rock, and theatrics mixed with a punk DIY attitude has inspired and spawned other bands. Even though Mushroomhead’s music is rock-leaning in thought, the group remains firmly committed to pushing the envelope and trying new things. Influences range from the driving rhythms and breakneck turns of Pantera, to the dark melodies of Faith No More, to the atmospheric stylings of Pink Floyd, but all done in Mushroomhead style.

Los Angeles based hard rock band VYCES started in the summer of 2014 when Chicago native Dave Naruszewicz was looking to work on a new project following the disbandment of his former group Heart-Set Self-Destruct. After years of touring with such bands as Filter, Hell Yeah, Volbeat, Pop Evil, etc.., he realized it was time for change. He spent time working with other musicians in the Chicago music scene looking to feed his passion as an artist but he did not find what he was looking for. Dave’s vision was not deterred, so he decided to reach out to longtime friend and drummer, Russell Ray (formerly of Old Fashioned Beatdown).
Dave began flying to Los Angeles from Chicago twice a month to build something new, original, and undeniable. Russ then reached out to guitarist, Shawn Patterson (also formerly for Old Fashioned Beatdown). The three began writing demos together and also sending ideas back and forth over the internet which ultimately became the foundation of VYCES.
After a few trips to LA they decided to go into the studio with producer Augustus Cryns (Butcher Babies, Stitched Up Heart, etc..), and also featured Mark James Klepaski (Formerly of Breaking Benjamin, and Lifer) on bass. After a year of writing and recording the band had finished 22 songs of true emotion, and power. Being compared to such artists as Chevelle, Korn, and Red, they have sonically created a solid blend of active rock and metal. Dave describes the soul of the songs as exploring the darker side of human emotion and behavior saying "It's something everyone can relate to because everyone has experienced some form of hurt, betrayal, weakness, hate, addiction, and/or lack of acceptance. It’s also the fuel that drives us to become stronger, get better, and overcome the flaws we've built in our minds.”
In October 2016 VYCES released their debut EP “DEVILS” and released a music video for the single “DEVIL” shot by Ron Underwood. From October through November of that year the band embarked on a the HELLRZZR TOUR which trekked across the U.S performing in 29 cities in 33 days.
VYCES spent the beginning of 2017 working on new material in between hitting the road on three national tours playing shows with Otherwise, Powerman 5000, etc.. In June 2017, the band released it's first radio single titled “NOCTURNAL” accompanied by another music video shot by Ron Underwood, and features Butcher Babies own Carla Harvey. 'Nocturnal' reached #38 on the Mediabase Active Rock Charts making it their first top 40 single.
VYCES is currently preparing for 2018 with the release of their highly anticipated new single, 'THIN LUCK' which impacts national radio on 02/06/18 and will be on tour all year long.

A band biography usually referred to as a “bio” is a group of words that attempt to put a group of musicians and their collaborations into simpler terms that describe them and their performances and creations. So what words could ever describe Ventana? A culmination of efforts from Rick “stitch” Thomas of Mushroomhead, Daniel Fox, Scott Beck, Tom Shaffner, with lyric contributions by Matt Foran and Kyle Kotarski.
Self Produced with the help of MUSHROOMHEADs mastermind Steve “skinny” Felton, their collaborations contain the influences and professionalism to be expected from such affiliations. {Spanish for Window} VENTANA represents a time where we see not only the past, but also a slight reflection of our future in the dusty glass. Our efforts exist for no other reason but to bring back the type of music that inspires the listener to turn a negative situation into a positive one. The music of honesty, the music of brutal sincerity that allowed us to follow our hearts into the whirlpool that is “The Industry”.
We have been waiting in the shadows to release what we consider to be a demon that reflects a demon within us all. We behold the window into our own souls and this primal sound being channeled through. Our fans have kept the fires burning beneath our streets for so long that we have overcome adversity and continue to put our efforts into a sound that we feel represents what we want and what our fans demand.
Villainous undertones and murderous inclinations resound throughout our compositions. The lives of alienation and degradation that have brought us here shall now lead us. To understand Ventana is to experience the direct connection we are establishing between our nature and the world we have come to reject. As for words to describe the sound of Ventana, Just listen...
