Raleigh Deathfest 2018 v The Maywood
3rd Annual Raleigh Deathfest featuring some of the region's best metal acts, we're expanding Raleigh Deathfest sonically this year to include a broader variety of metal madness for the areas headbangers!! Check out this line up!!
Headlining this year's all day onslaught of metal debauchery is Richmond, VA's kings of expansive, crushing metal, INTER ARMA - "The band creates terrible and often hauntingly beautiful portraits of humanity through music that is deeply organic yet still mystical and modern. INTER ARMA are just as committed to the live circuit as they are to their records: the band has performed extensively throughout Europe and the US in support of their Relapse Records release "Paradise Gallows".

In what is more like a co-headlining position are Raleigh's very own Kings Of Heavy Metal, Widow - "Metal Hammer magazine has named Widow one of the leaders of the "New Wave of Traditional Metal" and is recognized as a band at the front of the melodic metal uprising. Widow has put the final touches on their new release entitled Carved In Stone available now on Pure Steel Records."

Our first repeat offenders from 2017's Raleigh Deathfest also hail from the current epicenter of Southeastern metal, Richmond, VA, comes in the shape of the death metal machine that is Deathcrown - "Deathcrown is a band born from 25 years of influence and a passion for brutality. In the summer of 2014, Tommy Gunn and long-time friend Mikael Parks (Vocals - ex-Arsis/Narsilion) were having a few beers, cranking some early 90's Edge Of Sanity, Entombed, Morbid Angel, etc… They decided that getting back to their roots was long overdue. They released "Living Hell" in June 2016 on cassette through Primitive Ways Records, and in September 2016 on CD through Lost Apparitions Records. Deathcrown does quite a bit of DIY touring, and is heading to the studio soon for the next release."

Raleigh's Eldritch Horror have blessed the stage with their Lovecraft inspired punishing style of brutal death at now all 3 Raleigh Deathfests - "The long standing overlords of Raleigh's death metal scene since their inception in the early 90s even appearing on King Fowley's "Midnight Offerings" return after a very long hiatus, Eldritch Horror reformed in 2014 and self produced their first full length release which includes never before recorded classics and rerecorded demo tracks and are currently working on a follow up to 2015's "Untouched By The Sun"

Another Raleigh hometown favorite are adding to the expanding sound of Riff City are Mo'ynoq - "(named for a former Russian fishing city reduced to a literal wasteland after the lake was drained) have certainly captured their transition on this latest release. Guitarist/vocalist Logan Holloway explained that Bardo is “representing deaths of previous projects and this intermediate state before a full release of this new form.” Fresh off the heels of their most recent release “Bardo” which finds Mo’ynoq a much more mature band, with songs moving seamlessly from all out aggression, to fields of atmosphere, and walls of guitars and wailing vocals. Hipster black metal this is not."

Hailing from King's Mountain, NC the depraved, guttural intensity of Abhorrent Deformity are a returning act from the innaugural voyage of Raleigh Deathfest and are quite possibly one of the heaviest, sickest band sin the state. You'll know when the slams hit what we're talking about. Self-booked. Self-managed. Self-funded. Kickstarter free death metal.
