An ensemble of Vainikas (Veena players) explore and push the limits of this ancient stringed instrument over a programme of new work featuring unique bass tones, multi-octave sounds and rich gamakas.
‘One’ is the latest work from zerOclassikal, a project to offer radical and experimental approaches to South Asian classical music, presenting the next generation of British South Asian classical talent. Featuring: Mithila Sarma (Veena), Shyla Shanmugalingam (Veena), Pradeepa Sivasanthiran (Veena) and Abhiram Sahathevan (Miruthangam/Kanjira).
As part of GemArts Riverside Ragas series, tickets holders can also attend the pre-concert talk at 7pm, free of charge.
