The first wave of acts have been announced for the second, Songs From Northern Britain, the next generation music festival held at The Georgian Theatre & Green Room, Stockton on Tees.
Scheduled for Saturday 12 May 2018 and set across three stages, the twice yearly event will once again focus on showcasing emerging acts from both Teesside and Scotland with the second all-day event headlined by fast-rising local favourites Cape Cub and with a supporting cast featuring some of the most exciting acts from both the immediate Teesside region and from north of the border.
Joining them on the bill and flying the flag for Teesside will be the much fancied Para Alta, Eve Conway, Bruto and Joe Ramsey whilst amongst the first Scottish acts announced is the widely-tipped Glasgow band The Ninth Wave who will be joined on the bill by a host of other highly rated acts including Onr, Lucia, The Dunts, St.Martiins.
Andy Carr of TKASG said, “The first SFNB was a resounding success and once again the region’s discerning music lovers will be able to see some of the brightest new acts in an intimate setting. This is such an exciting first announcement and there’s even more great acts still to come”.
The all-day event will rotate artists between The Georgian Theatre stage, The Green Room and The Georgian Theatre bar – offering wall to wall music for the whole day.
Chris Cobain of Tees Music Alliance said “May’s event is the second showcase where we get to see some of the best new talent around. For our second all-dayer we have another great line up in place. It promises to be a brilliant day for lovers of live music - coupled with excellent networking opportunities for the acts involved”.
Despite November’s event being the first edition of Songs From Northern Britain, it came very close to a sell out with only a handful of tickets remaining at the end of the night. Fans are urged to buy early to avoid disappointment.
This second edition of SFNB will once again be curated by BBC6 Music and BBC Radio Scotland tastemaker Vic Galloway. The veteran broadcaster – known for his passionate support of grass roots music – will take a leading role on the day; introducing artists and offering informal advice and support.
Tickets for Songs From Northern Britain are on sale now; priced at £13 in advance. Tickets on the day will increase in price.
