Following a successful live music venture, starting with Sunday Live Music upstairs in Bedfords, the Owner; Glen Carr loyaly supported by his son, Jonathan, The General Manager, have together decided to broaden their live music spectrum as part of a fresh approach to hosting live music in Norwich. Bedfords Crypt Live Promotions is a new concept for 2018, with it bringing about the birth of Underground Beats - a new live music event presenting Norwich with the most talented bands across many genres from across the globe.
The events frequency will depend on a number of factors but we hope to bring you at least six bands per year, each with their own support band. Just like our previous live music venture Underground Beats will rely heavily on local support and ticket sales so we hope as long as we bring the talent, the crowd will follow. Support acts will be performing in the upstairs bar from 8pm with the head-liner bringing The Crypt to life with sets kicking off between 9-9:30pm.
Underground Beats is proud to announce Scarlet Sails, who will be kicking off their European/UK 2018 tour right here at Bedfords Crypt Norwich, providing the opportunity to witness the band's first UK performance.
Here's a little info about the band: New York-based, Moscow-born, singer-songwriter, and pianist Olya Viglione met former The Dresden Dolls drummer Brian Viglione at one of New York's lower east side rock clubs, a thunderbolt of lightning they hit it on both fronts. They formed Scarlet Sails soon after, where they introduced the elaborate blend of piano pop & theatrical rock. The musical alchemy of the band is equal parts Bowie, Queen, Radiohead and Otis Redding. Along with guitarist Mark Kohut and bassist Dave Lowenthal, they approached rock with a grandiose flair and Olya's raw and one-of-a-kind voice and her existential honest lyricism decorate their sound with rasp and swagger. In April 2017 they released their ambitious first album, Future from the Past.
This event, like all Underground Beats events, will be strictly ticket holders only and with The Crypt's limited capacity it'll be a first-come first-served basis so you'll have to move quickly to secure your ticket!
