Christy McCormick v The Jam Factory
Christy McCormick is a London based freelance illustrator who specialises in portraits and figurative work. As a graduate from the London College of Fashion, Christy is highly trained in illustration and demonstrates an ability to capture her subject with expressive intensity.
Christy has worked for Alexander McQueen where she helped develop prints for both menswear and womenswear. She has been featured in a variety of publications such as, Flaunt Magazine, Twenthy6Magazine, Dash Magazine, The Ethical Fashion Initiative, Eluxe Magazine, Voix Meets Mode, Pigeon and Peacocks, amongst others.
Christy’s past projects have centred around sustainability and beauty. She designed and created a sustainable nightwear collection titled “Wake Up’. Inspired by the vast scenery of the ever-diminishing Amazon Rain Forest, the collection aimed to raise awareness of increasing deforestation and climate change issues whilst showcasing the beauty of nature. This was followed by a series of illustrated tribal portraits titled ‘Natural Fashion’.
Christy’s most recent project is on the feminine body. The feminine body is a work of art in itself. The shapes, the curves and small indents and details that make it unique are captivating. With her up close angular crops and experimentation with colour, she explores the ideology of the feminine physic.
