Technoir is a psychedelic soul/nu jazz duo based in Milan active since 2014. The core members are : Alexandros (aka Sound Activist) : guitars, beats, synths, vocals Jennifer (aka Jennyfire) : vocals, fx, pads. Alexandros has Greek origins and was raised between Italy and the island of Kerkyra, while Jennifer was born in Italy by Nigerian and Ghanaian parents.
The duo's sound mixes jazz, electronica, soul and improvisation with a restless sonic research. 2016 lead to an intense live activity throughout Italy and Europe that let Technoir reach clubs like LaMaroquinerie(Paris), Santeria Social Club (opening act for Romare), Magnolia, Apollo Club (opening for DAM FUNK) and BIKO
Club (Milan), Caffè Internazionale (Palermo).
During the last year they also started releasing a series of 3Ps (three song Eps published every three months) that formed their debut album NeMui, out on April 21st 2017 for the label Cane Nero Dischi. NeMui is an acronym for New Ecosystem Musically Improved. The whole album was produced by Alexandros (Sound Activist) in his bedroom studio. NeMui has drawn the attention of AFROPUNK which premiered the project online, of the Italian musica magazines ROLLING STONE (which premiered the animated vidoclip for "Bubbles") and RUMORE, of the
music blog Dance Like Shaquille O'Neal and their single “Techtube” was featured on the radio broadcast Mono Jazz airing on Gilles Peterson's Worldwide FM.
Technoir was part of the MI AMI Festival 2017 lineup in Milan, of the DISORDER Festival (Eboli), of the
Locarno International Film Festival (Locarno) and Venice Biennale (Venice). NeMui was showcased at the BIKO Club (Milan) and MONK Club (Rome), as well as in the Balkans with a tour that reached Lublijana (Slovenia), Banja Luka (Bosnia), Belgrade and Subotica (Serbia) and Zagreb (Croatia, show was SOLD OUT).
By the end of 2017 Technoir will be a part of the LINECHECK Festival in Milan, among artists of the likes of Thundercat, Little Dragon, Moses Sumney and of the JAZZ:RE:FOUND Festival in Turin, opening for Cory Henry and the Funk Apostles
