PORT ALMOND
Rune Simonsen - vocals & guitar
Erik Nilsson - keys
Lars Bech Pilgaard - guitar
Port Almond is the new alter ego of Norwegian singer-songwriter Rune Simonsen - also known as the lead singer of Washington (Mount Washington) and Lagoonbird.
The new self-titled album (release date October 5th) was recorded fully analog during a 3-day session in February 2018. It was produced by Guy Sternberg at LowSwing Studio in Berlin. Recorded live with minimum overdubs, the album is completely computer free. It features Port Almond's unique songwriting style: an extraordinary mixture of soft guitar picking and whispering vocals backed up by a raging, free improvising 7 piece band, including Copenhagen jazz guitarist Lars Bech Pilgaard.
FUNEN
Oliver Laumann - drums
Mija Milovic - vox/keys
Lars Bech Pilgaard - guitar
Since forming the duo SAV, almost eight years ago, Mija Milovic and Lars Bech Pilgaard have curiously explored distant fields within experimental music. As a duo SAV have released three full-length albums and toured fiercely in Europe, USA and in the Balkans. Now they formed Funen together with drummer Oliver Laumann, who adds fresh dimensions to the music. In June Funen recorded their debut-album over two days in Vanløse. Their music moves like energetic blocks of concrete that explode here and there and dissolves between your hands like sand. The aggressive, multilingual and vocal outbursts in unison with the guitar is accompanied by restless percussive strokes and with unforeseeable dynamics. With drums, vocals, guitar, banjo and keyboard the trio explores their own ways within elastic, improvised landscapes.
MATHIAS WINTHER KJELDSEN
Mathias Winther Kjeldsen and his mahogany brown guitar open a grey colored text universe - this is where Kjeldsen is at his best. His insisting expression - and interpretation of music takes us on a flight through time and space.
