The Kate Bush Song Book v The Belfast Empire
THE KATE BUSH SONG BOOK
40TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR WITH DEL PALMER
As a young girl Kate Bush was shown middle C on the piano by her father and left to develop her musical imagination. She went on to write some of the most affecting songs in popular music. This Woman’s Work, Wuthering Heights and The Man with the Child in His Eyes are well known examples but her 40 year career resounds with piano-based songs that dazzle with their complexity and lyrical invention.
Cloudbusting’s acoustic offshoot THE KATE BUSH SONG BOOK explores the genius of Kate, her imagination and her piano. It features Mandy Watson’s vocals, Michael Mayell’s keyboards and for the purposes of this very special tour, a unique chance to hear Kate’s original bass player and studio engineer DEL PALMER contributing the magical bass lines that so characterise her music.
‘I wanted to celebrate 40 years of Kate’s music by working on some of her lesser-known songs with Mandy and Michael. Songs that some of my heroes and great friends contributed memorable bass parts to. Songs we worked so hard on in the studio to create complex arrangements also work so well in this simpler, more intimate setting.’Del Palmer
