Be the first to see the stars of the future as they compete in the biennial Donatella Flick LSO Conducting Competition. Created by Donatella Flick in 1990, the competition helps talented young conductors establish an international conducting career, bridging the gap between training and professional life – with previous winners including LSO Principal Guest Conductor François-Xavier Roth.
On the first two days of the competition a short-list of 20 conductors will be whittled down to 10 after the first day, and then to three finalists after the second.
The three finalists will be judged by a panel of internationally renowned performers, and will conduct a challenging programme of some of the most iconic orchestral repertoire. For the first time in the competition they will also be joined onstage by a soloist, with Vadim Repin performing Prokofiev’s Second Violin Concerto.
Tickets for the Grand Final on 22 November will also allow entry into the earlier rounds at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama on 20 & 21 November and to the final rehearsal at the Barbican Hall on 22 November.
