Thursday, March 8th, Ancient Order of Hibernians Louisville, KY will be kicking off St. Patrick’s Day festivites at Goodwood Brewing with the 13th annual Blessing of The Keg at the Goodwood Taproom followed by a tapping at O'Shea's Irish Pub. The Blessing of the Keg and Tapping is like no other beer event you’ve ever attended, and this year, the favorite tradition of the Hibernians, Goodwood Brewing and O'Shea's Irish Pub, is going to be the best one yet!
The party will start at Goodwood Brewing at 3PM with live Irish Music by The Bold Roberts from 4PM-6PM. At approximately 5:30-5:45 p.m., (we’re on Irish time here), Father Fowler will be led by the AOH and bagpiper, John Eagels, throughout the brewery where Father Fowler will bless the Bourbon Barrel Stout kegs, and we are bottling a special brew for the event-- Blessed Fella.
Blessed Fella is Bourbon Barrel Stout’s bigger, boozier, imperial brother. The beer features an ABV of 12%, and will be a blended recipe of two different barrel-aged imperial stout varieties.
After Father Fowler blesses the beer and the bottles, the Blessed Fella bottles will be available for purchase in the Taproom, while the keg of Blessed Bourbon Barrel Stout will be transported to O'Shea's Irish Pub for an epic tapping party! Once we arrive at O'Shea’s we will march the blessed keg in behind the bagpiper and Father Fowler will lead us in prayer, there will be a few Irish blessings… then we drink!
Join us for this awesome and unique event!
After all, Blessed Beer Tastes Better!
The Blessing of the Keg is the official kick-off of the St Patrick’s Day festivities and also serves as a celebration of the birthday of the Bourbon Barrel Stout!
